Dr. C. Thomas Wright
Executive Director of Missions
(Associational Missionary)
On Tuesday, December 7, 2004, a called Executive Committee Meeting was held at Government Street Baptist Church in Mobile to interview and extend a call to Dr. Wright. After a time of sharing and prayer, the Executive Committee voted unanimously to call Dr. Wright as the new Executive Director of Missions. A fellowship luncheon, hosted by Government Street Baptist Church, followed the meeting. Dr. Wright began his ministry with Mobile Baptists on January 1, 2005.
Brother Thomas has served in International and home missions since 1978. He enjoys teaching, preaching and writing and has served as a church planter and an adjunct professor of evangelism, missions and church history. He is fluent in Laotian and Thai. He and Donna home schooled Jason (born 1988) and Amy (born 1991). Both are married
Dr. Wright is responsible for developing a contextual strategy that offers all MBA churches the opportunity to be involved in the associational emphases of Biblical Prayer, Evangelistic Ministries, Church Development, Church Planting, and Partnership Missions. He also manages the associational staff, responds to the needs of the churches, and serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the Association

V. Carol Henderson
Administrative Assistant
Carol’s responsibilities include managing the Mobile Baptist Association office and serving as the personal secretary to the Executive Director of Missions. She also processes the budget by receiving and dispersing funds, posting disbursements, filing receipts, maintaining payroll, and balancing the checkbooks. In her free time she assists the other staff members, serves as Clerk of the Association, and hosts the associational functions as needed.

Dr. David Gill
Interim, Part-Time Director of Church Development
He is in the MBA office on Monday afternoons and available other times for consulting. He serves as senior pastor at FBC Theodore and we appreciate the church sharing him with us during this season.
Dr Gill brings 40 years’ experience in ministry including 21 years as senior pastor. He demonstrates strengths in mentoring and equipping individual leaders to grow spiritually and edify others to strengthen their churches. His previous role as an Area Representative for the Office of Sunday School and Discipleship Training through the Alabama State Board of Missions, serves as a foundation to provide consultation and training for multiple churches. Areas of consultation and training include programs such as VBS, Sunday School, Bible Drill, Men’s Ministry, and Senior Adults.
His Doctorate of Ministry, reviewed various revitalization plans and church plant strategies. His expertise in helping the churches and the busy ministers connect with their people through technology results in stronger relationships for the church. Healthier churches build stronger associations.
Dr. Gill has been married 34 years to Joann S. Gill, Registered Nurse at Mobile Infirmary Outpatient Heart Cath Lab. They have 8 children in which 3 teenagers live at home. They also have 4 grandchildren.
Kelly Jones
Receptionist/Church Development Assistant
Kelly’s responsibilities consist of serving as an office receptionist by answering the phone, greeting visitors, and supporting the office staff. She is the assistant to the Administrative Secretary and the Church Development Director, which expands her job to include printing promotional materials, mailing cards, and operating the office machinery. The daily events for each staff member are also coordinated by her.
MSC Evangelistic Ministries Coordinator
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the evangelistic ministries of the MBA in cooperation with the Evangelistic Missions Committee and EDOM.
- Maintain the evangelism materials of the MBA library.
- Cooperatively plan, promote, budget, implement and evaluate evangelistic ministry events and training in the MBA.
- Enlist and train evangelistic ministry coordinators in all MBA churches.
- Support the five MBA Emphases of Biblical Prayer, Evangelistic Ministries, Church Development, Church Planting, and Partnership Missions.
Volunteer Biblical Prayer Coordinator
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the biblical prayer ministry of the MBA in cooperation with the Biblical Prayer Committee and EDOM.
- Maintain the biblical prayer materials of the MBA library.
- Cooperatively plan, promote, budget, implement and evaluate biblical prayer events and training in the MBA.
- Enlist and train biblical prayer coordinators in all MBA churches.
- Support the five MBA Emphases of Biblical Prayer, Evangelistic Ministries, Church Development, Church Planting, and Partnership Missions.
Missionaries in Residence
Volunteer Partnership Missions Coordinator
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the partnership missions ministry of the MBA in cooperation with the Evangelistic Ministries Committee and EDOM.
- Cooperatively plan, promote, budget, implement and evaluate local, state, national and international missions trips for MBA churches.
- Provide opportunities for every MBA church to involve at least one person in partnership missions each year.
- Coordinate all trips through IMB, NAMB or state convention partners and with local SBC missionaries on the field.
- Work with missions and evangelistic ministries committees in our churches to help promote partnership missions.
- Support the five MBA Emphases of Biblical Prayer, Evangelistic Ministries, Church Development, Church Planting, and Partnership Missions.
Dean, MBA School of Theology (MSC)
Responsibilities:
- Serve with Thomas Wright to create and administrate a school of theology for MBA church members.
- Develop curricula and degree programs for students who wish to attend accredited and non-accredited classes. The target audience includes deacons, teachers and members who want to increase biblical knowledge in a practical environment. We will develop relationships with UM and seminaries as needed.
African-American Assistant Church Development Consultant (MSC)
Responsibilities:
Serve with Chuck Davis to assist African-American churches to grow and to join the MBA.
Volunteer or MSC Church Planting Coordinator
We are praying for the Lord to call a volunteer or MSC missionary to take leadership of this emphasis area. A small expense account is possible in partnership with ALSBOM. Contact Thomas Wright for more information.
