Cooperative missions is an important Southern Baptist distinctive that is often not understood in our pews. Please invite one of the MBA staff to set up a display in your church, or to speak anytime during the year. The Impact Mobile offering provides an opportunity for churches that may not have financially supported cooperative missions in their Jerusalem as much as they would have liked. It also assists those churches who use regular special offerings as their primary means to raise missions support. We are grateful for the churches that provide a portion of their missions tithe through the budget, and understand those churches may choose not to promote this offering. This is an “above the tithe” missions offering to assist the ministries and emphases of the MBA to make an eternal difference in Mobile County. Your sacrificial missions tithes allow us to provide MBA sponsored trainings and consultations to dozens of pastors, staff and members about every aspect of growing, maintaining and managing a church. Please consider participating in the “Impact Mobile Associational Missions Offering.” Visit mobilebaptists.org/mba-impact-offering-materials for more information and to download promotional materials.

The Associational Enlistment Committee is at work filling the positions vacant for 2018-2020. If you feel led to serve in any of the open positions, or if you could recommend someone to serve, it would be of great help to this Committee and the Association.
Please pray and let us know by May 31, 2017 of any suggestions that you might have. The desire is to involve as many people from the Association as possible. It would be best to have all of the active churches represented in some way in the Association. The MBA Committees’ job descriptions are located here.
Pray for the Enlistment Committee as they meet, make contacts, and accomplish the task. There is a lot to do and these committees are so vital to the success of the Mobile Baptist Association, and to the Kingdom of God.
Please find the nomination/recommendation form here.

We have completed 8 months of our one year emphasis to cooperatively pray for every one of the 415,000 people in Mobile County by prayer walking every one of the 13,000 streets at least once before annual session on Sunday October 1, 2017.
Reports from participating churches continue to reflect church members looking outward. Even introverts are experiencing divine encounters and positive responses. Thirty MBA churches have registered so far and committed to pray for 50 pages out of the Keith Maps Street Atlas of Mobile County. There are another 45 pages that need to be claimed.
We are hearing from churches that have completed their area once, twice and many times. Keep up the good work. Keep plowing. Matthew 18:19 shows that cooperative prayer (“if two of you agree…”) brings devastating defeat to the enemy.
It is not too late to bring this blessing to church members and impact Mobile. Please visit prayerwalk.mobilebaptists.org to register and download training materials.

Answered prayer Matthew 8 presents multiple instances when Jesus suspended the laws of physics to answer a request. In 8:3 he miraculously answered the Leper’s request for healing. In Matt. 8:26 Jesus again miraculously calmed the waves. We also see in the Bible that Jesus did not always use miracles to meet needs and answer requests. In Matt. 9:9-13 Jesus used Matthew’s generosity to convene an evangelism banquet for “tax collectors and sinners.” This event was followed by a command in 9:38 to “pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers…” (HCSB). Jesus obviously expects these workers to meet needs that people are crying out to God. In Matt. 10 Jesus commissions 12 Disciples to be the means of answered prayer across Israel. Matt. 14:17 presents an extraordinary example of God using a generous little boy’s 5 loaves (of pita bread) and 2 fish to meet an extensive need. There is some evidence our members expect Jesus to answer every prayer directly and miraculously. However, we see many instances in which people are the means for prayers to be answered and needs to be met. Some of our prayers impose on God the expectation that someone else should be inconvenienced or have to underwrite the need. Some of our unanswered prayers are because someone has told God no. There is a tremendous blessing that always comes when we, in faith, say “Yes, Lord.” Continue reading
