DATE CHANGE - Change Your Church but Don't Break It February 6, 2017

Change Your Church but Don't Break It

Monday, February 6 2017
6:30 p.m.
MBA office

“Change is inevitable. Growth is Optional.”
“How is your church doing ‘change’?”

This conference will focus on healthy ways to facilitate change. While stress can be good, we need to learn how much stress is too much stress. Churches can feel pushed, prodded, and even pressured. A healthy balance is a desired pursuit. This conference will help pastors, deacons, and lay leadership through this process as progress is made. Unity and effectiveness will be key principles at the foundation of this front line learning opportunity. State missionary, Mike Jackson, will lead this conference.

This conference is free, but pre-registration is needed. To pre-register, click here or contact the MBA office, no later than Thursday, February 2.

Please note: if not enough participants are pre-registered, the event is subject to cancellation.

This, and other like events, are made possible by donations to Associational Missions and the Cooperative Program.

Advance Weekend for Youth February 17-19, 2017

Advance weekend is a community event designed to apply the significance of the gospel to students for all of life. Over the course of the weekend, students worship in a large group gathering, spend time in small groups, serve on mission together, and more. Attached is an overview with more details. This year, Advance is February 17-19

The theme is the advance of the gospel, specifically the advance of the gospel in our city (or cities). The theme verse is 1 Peter 4:8, "Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.” During the main sessions, we will look at the idea of the gospel in us personally (Friday PM), the gospel in community (Saturday AM), and the gospel to the nations (or city) (Saturday PM). For the small group times we will be in the book of 1 Peter.

The schedule is flexible according to how much or little each church can participate. We are charging $35/student, to be paid to each local church. The cost for each church will be $25/student (to cover speaker, band, t-shirts, meal, etc), paid to Redemption Church. Therefore, each church is holding on to $10/student to cover their own costs.

Pastor's Library Available

One of the retired pastors in West Mobile Baptist Church, Wallace Curlee, is moving out of his home and would like to donate part of his library (Bible study books, commentaries, some fiction but all Christian books, mostly hardbacks) to a pastor or a church library. If you are interested, call West Mobile Baptist and leave your contact information and we will relay the information to his daughter.
