Yes, we want to help pray for the people on every street in Mobile County!

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?

• The first step is to decide to participate. There is registration for individuals and churches below.

• Second, decide who will lead for your congregation. A member of the prayer committee, evangelism committee, Sunday School or Student ministry are possible leaders and participants.

• Third, decide which areas you want to prayer walk/drive between now and October 2017. Teams of two or three begin nearest the church and work outward. Some members/teams will prayer walk their neighborhoods and neighborhoods around the church many times. Participants who want to help prayer walk other parts of the County can come back to this web site to see which Street Atlas pages still need to be chosen.

• Please register below to let us know your church will participate, the contact person and the pages of the Keith Maps 2016 Street Atlas you choose. It is great that the people on some streets will be prayed for many times.

WHAT TRAINING AND RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE?

• Click here for a Power Point Presentation that provides process and training information. It adapts and abbreviates the SBC’s Taking Prayer to the Streets training material for use in #prayerwalkmobile. Click here for a text copy of the PowerPoint process and training information.

• How long and how far you walk is determined by each church. Get a map to assign streets. Highlight streets that have been completed. For simplicity and easy coordination, we suggest using the Keith Map Service 2016 Street Atlas of Mobile County (purchase one here keithmaps.com). Your church can choose part of a page, a whole page or hopefully several pages. The MBA will use a Master Copy of the Street Atlas to confirm each page has been chosen and prayerwalked.

• The SBC Executive committee offers a free Prayer walk training manual at sbc.net/inallthingspray/resources/TakingPrayertotheStreet.pdf (TPS). It contains extensive step by step information and instructions about prayer walking. Click here to download a copy directly from our server. See above for the modified version specific to #prayerwalkmobile.

• Check with Bro. Thomas, the moderators or any member of the Biblical Prayer (Chair, Adam Hammond, firstbaptistc359@bellsouth.net) and Evangelistic Ministries (Chair, Al Brown, brownal07@gmail.com) committees for more information.

HOW DO WE REPORT BACK AND NEXT STEPS?

• Come back to this link prayerwalk.mobilebaptists.org after the prayer walk(s) to record which pages of the 2016 Street Atlas have been completed at least once.

• We will celebrate the results in the MBA Annual Missions Celebration (Annual Session), October 5, 2017 at Moffett Road Baptist Church.

• Include the resource pray4everyhome.com to continuously pray for and share Jesus with every person in Mobile County.

• Watch the News Alerts, Newsletter and this page for several simultaneous prayer walking events that will occur across the county.

• #prayerwalkmobile is coordinating with other denominations and churches hearing the same call to pray for Mobile.

International Christmas Celebration

Saturday, December 3, 2016
6:00 p.m.
International Ministries Center
(605 Texas Place)

We look forward to celebrating our Lord’s birth with people from many nations at the International Ministries Center on December 3, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. for the International Christmas Celebration. I would like to invite you and your church family to be a part of the celebration this year.

The theme this year is A Little Like Heaven. The evening will begin with fellowship around the table with various International foods. There will be drama and Christmas Carols by the language churches’ choirs. Doug Wilson will be the speaker. Gifts will be given out to seafarers and children from the international community.

Each year the International Ministries Center (IMC) collects items for our “little Walmart.” This year we are adding an additional item that we believe will be special to each seaman. We are planning to give each seafarer a new wallet with a $10 Walmart gift card inside. The continuation of toiletry items will still be a part of the gifts. It has been the practice each year to make these items available. It is through these gifts that we have the opportunity to express God’s love to those needing these items. Many parts of our world do not recognize Christ as the real reason for Christmas and we want to make sure they see this from this ministry.

Please bring these items to the IMC or the MBA by November 23, 2016:

• Men’s Wallets

• $10 Walmart Gift Cards

• Crew Neck White T-Shirts (Med., Large and XL sizes only)

• White Tube Socks (Med. and Large only)

• Shampoo

• Conditioner

• Shaving Creme

• Toothpaste

• Chewing Gum

• Regular Coffee

• Individually Wrapped Hard Candy

• Cheese Crackers (No peanut butter crackers)

• Gallon sized zip lock bags

"Making Disciples Who Make Disciples on the College Campus and Beyond"

Hosting International Students for Holiday Meals

Did you know that most International Students that attend school in the United State never get to visit an American home?

Christian families are missing a great opportunity to welcome students into their homes, love them and share your lives with them.

Would you consider hosting some international students for a holiday meal?

Baptist Campus Ministries (BCM) is connecting International students with Christian families for holiday meals. These meals can be any day near the Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays; they do not have to be on that particular day. You will simply volunteer to host students (at least 2) and BCM will match you with interested students.

Use this simple form (via this link: https://goo.gl/forms/5kaDeKuX3BM9LZ703) to express interest in hosting international students and submit by November 15, 2016. Campus Ministers will contact you soon to discuss the opportunities available.

If you have any questions, please contact Campus Ministers Jerrod Brown jbrown@alsbom.org or Beth Gardner egardner@alsbom.org at the BCM. They can also be reached at 344-5904.

FREE Copier

Baptist Campus Ministries has an older copier FREE. It is not perfect, but it does make suitable copies. New owners would need to arrange for supplies and service if desired. Contact Campus Minister Jerrod Brown at 344-5904 or jbrown@alsbom.org.

Wright Word, December 2016-February 2017

Prayer that Plows
Even a city boy knows you have to plow hard ground. In Luke 8:5-12, the Parable of the Sower presents the imagery of good soil and bad soil. Jesus then applies the parable to the human heart. Our culture has definitely become hardened against any truth and particularly against biblical truth. So how do believers plow hard hearts so they become receptive to the Gospel?

In John 17:20, Jesus prayed for unbelievers. “I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message” (NIV). Another example in Luke 23:33-34, presents our Savior praying for those who crucified Him, and mocked Him, even as He died on the cross for their sins.

To be Christ-like we too should pray for the lost. The aforementioned parable teaches believers to pray for receptive and repentant hearts. Second Corinthians 4:3-4 shows believers to pray for the spiritual eyes and ears of the unbeliever to be opened to the truth of Christ. John 16:8 demonstrates how to pray for unbelievers to have God’s attitude toward sin. We also encounter unbelievers who need us to pray for them to be released to believe (See 2 Cor. 10:3-4; 2 Tim. 2:25-26).

It will become our joy as we prayer walk every street in Mobile County to see hard hearts softened. Then we better be ready with the Truth of the Gospel before the heart grows hard again or a false religion swoops in to lead them into sincere error.

Plowing through #PrayerWalkMobile October 6, 2016 - October 5, 2017
Prayer unites believers. Matthew 18:19 shows that cooperative prayer (“if two of you agree…”) brings devastating defeat to the enemy. The MBA Executive, Evangelistic Ministries and Biblical Prayer Committees invite our churches to prayer walk every street in Mobile County between October 2016 and October 2017. The first simultaneous weekend will be January 14-15. Training details, registering and reporting are at prayerwalk.mobilebaptists.org and the hashtag #prayerwalkmobile. Watch the newsletter and news alerts for final details.
