GAMBLING - LIES VS FACTS The Governor has called a Special Session of the Alabama Legislature to debate a state-sponsored lottery for our state. Click here for a copy of Lies vs Facts, a document that you may reprint and share with your church members. Though a little lengthy, it will give you a basic understanding of the issue of gambling and help your members to talk with their friends and family about how gambling is a failed government policy everywhere it has been tried. Feel free to print and distribute portions of this document, or you may reprint it in its entirety. You may email it or use it any way you desire. Most of the information comes from the national organization, Stop Predatory Gambling. I serve on the board for this organization. If you need other information, or if you would like to talk with me, feel free to contact me. I would also recommend the documentary, "Out of Luck - Education Edition" (The Education Edition removes the offensive language found in the original version, except for one bad word near the very end of the movie that was missed in the screening process.) Currently, this is in DVD format only, but we are hoping that a downloadable version will be available soon. We have copies at the ALCAP office if you would like to order from us. Please review the document Lies vs Facts and share it with as many people as possible! Encourage everyone you know to contact their legislators as soon as possible!
