Annual Church Profiles/Reports (ACPs) were mailed to church addresses Wednesday, July 31, 2019. Please look for your church's ACP and make sure the Church Clerk gets the packet. Completed ACPs are due September 4. This profile of your church is a very important task for your church statistics and leadership personnel to be properly documented for the Association, Alabama Baptist State Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention. If you have any questions, please contact the MBA office. Watch this video from Dr. Rick Lance about the importance of the ACP and why we do it. https://ricklance.com/2019/07/30/time-to-think-about-the-annual-church-profile/

International Ministries need several Volunteer Port Chaplains who can drive to and from the ships. The chaplains need to lead Bible Studies on the ships at various times. Volunteers must pass a background check for TWIC access to the ships. Please contact Dr. Bobby Morton for more information, via email or 251-661-7111.

The fall semester is quickly approaching on our college campuses in Mobile County. Baptist Campus Ministries exists as a missionary extension of our Baptist Churches to reach, grow and send collegians and to help our churches do the same. We believe that every Mobile Baptist Association Church can have a ministry to collegians, whether that is 1 or 100 students.

We have several opportunities coming up in the next month to help your church connect to collegians and the college campus. Baptist Campus Ministries invites you all to participate in these connection events, send representatives if possible, and strategically plan how you will engage collegians this year. I would like to highlight a few events that I think will be beneficial to you. Make sure to click on the link below to see a complete list of opportunities and to RSVP to the connection opportunities you all will be able to participate in.

On Tuesday, August 13 at 7:00 p.m., BCM will host a Collegiate Workers Dinner & Prayerwalk. Do you have collegiate ministry workers in your congregation that need to be encouraged in their ministry? Do you have Sunday School teachers, volunteers of staff members assigned to focus their work among collegians? Are you a youth or college minister trying to start ministry to college students? This dinner is for them and for you! We want to encourage you as the semester begins, help you catch a God-given vision for reaching collegians, and be inspired to rely upon the Spirit in this ministry endeavor. Please follow the link provided below to RSVP as soon as is possible.

On Sunday, August 18 at 8:30 a.m., BCM will host its annual New Student Waffle Breakfast. Our goal with this Breakfast is to get collegians out of their beds and residence halls on their first Sunday on campus and help them meet new friends from our local churches. The breakfast will conclude by 9:45 a.m. so that the students can then visit one of our local churches. Would you all send a few representatives to meet students and eat free waffles with them? Please RSVP at the link provided below.

Our Annual Church & Campus Connection Cookout is on Tuesday, September 3 at 7 p.m. Our various local churches will send representatives, setting up displays, meeting new students, and sharing about their congregations. You are invited to send a team. We will provide the dinner, the space and the tables; you just bring some church information for a tabletop display. You may also RSVP quickly at the link provided below.

You can connect many other ways with collegians in the next month through our BCM ministry. We have ministry opportunities to students from multiple campuses planned and would love to have your involvement. PLEASE check out the link provided to find a comprehensive link of all the opportunities and to RSVP for the things your congregation would like to help with in the next month.

We need to hear from you! We can serve you better and help you be connected to collegians more strategically if we know you all would like to participate in these various opportunities. This survey is short and you will be able to complete it in just a few minutes. Let us partner with you to reach collegians.

Watching for Those Who Want to Meet Jesus
It is recorded in Luke 19:1-9 the encounter between Jesus and Zacchaeus (of “wee little man” fame). Zacchaeus was spiritually lost but went to extraordinary effort to meet Jesus. In modern Jericho visitors can stand under a sycamore tree near the spot where this encounter occurred. Jesus easily could have walked past the tree because of the crowd clamoring about Him. But Jesus demonstrated a skill we must learn. Jesus watched for true seekers of Spiritual truth. Jesus changed His schedule to be able to say, “Today salvation has come to this household…. (v.9).” Jesus then reminds us, “for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost (v. 10).” (AMP)

GOOD News

Recent editions of The Alabama Baptist show again the churches of the MBA are leading the state in the number of baptisms. Our Evangelistic Ministries emphasis and prayer walking has helped move us from near the bottom of that list 14 years ago. Also significant is we are not the largest association, nor have the megachurches available in other cities that often provide a high percentage of Associational baptisms.

Saturate Mobile October 2019 – October 2020

The Evangelistic Ministries Committee is preparing a process for MBA churches to saturate Mobile County with the Word of God. Initial plans are to organize similarly to the successful #prayerwalkmobile. Churches can choose the same page, a page portion or a different page from the Mobile County Keith Map Services map book. Churches are challenged to pray again for every home and distribute a Jesus Movie CD, information about your church and other literature to every home in that area. Watch for more information including how to receive the literature at no cost to your church, saturateusa.org.
