Disaster Relief Update

al-drlogo resized
Following storms on March 30, 2022, Mobile Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers had the privilege of helping a local church member with a downed tree. One of our volunteers went to assess the job and ended up finishing the job with the help of a neighbor! That was a huge blessing to an elderly local church member.

Then April 4 that same volunteer was asked to accompany a friend to assess a tarp request. The two men went to assess the job and had the privilege of leading the owner of the home to faith in the Lord!!! God is moving through this ministry and it is exciting! Please pray for this new believer as he has agreed to attend church with one of the men. Also, pray for his wife.

It is my prayer that our churches will become more tuned in to such opportunities and allow us to minister in these situations so the gospel can be proclaimed!

The MBA DR ministry remains on alert for each of these spring storms. We are also preparing for the upcoming hurricane season.

Disaster Relief training was held February 18-19 at Redemption Church in Saraland. Classes offered include: chainsaw, cleanup/recovery, and mass feeding.

Thank you to all the many trained DR volunteers who helped make the training a huge success. Thank you to Redemption Church for hosting this event.

Thirty-three local volunteers were trained and that brings the total current/active volunteers in Mobile County to 116. Twenty-nine MBA churches are represented.
Thanks again to everyone who helped and to those who were newly trained.

Thanks to all the churches who have supported and provided for the Disaster Relief ministry. We are volunteers, but your donations cover the cost of insurance, travel, and supplies needed to be able to help hurting people and bring them news of Jesus!

Serving you for Him,
Carolyn Battle

The Wright Word June - August 2022

Wright Word June-August 2022
Thomas Wright, Associational Missionary
Emphasizing Biblical Prayer, Evangelistic Ministries, Church Development, Church Planting, Partnership Missions

Partnership Still Essential Philippians 1:5
The 1904 World’s Fair first introduced X-rays, an electrical wall plug, a FAX machine and various flying machines and motor cars. One of the best received was the partnership between ice cream and an edible waffle cone. Two separate treats were made better by partnership. Newly popularized electricity was the star. The World’s Fair helped introduce that every community, every city and every state would have to cooperate in order for electric lines to reach every home; creating a “cooperative” revolutionized comfort, safety, health, and communication.

In Philippians 1:4-5 Paul commended the churches in Philippi “because of your partnership from the first day until now” (HCSB). He continued in vs, 6, “I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to the completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” The pandemic has been tough; the MBA has 17 vacant pulpits. Current estimates across the convention indicate vacancy rates at 10-20 percent. Radical autonomy is likewise encouraging people to get off the grid of denominational support. We are in much more danger from the enemy when he convinces us to separate from the support network that is the local church. Local churches are in more danger when separate from local and denominational support.

Big Results Conference June 3-4, 2022 at Highpoint Baptist Church
Save the dates Friday evening June 3 and Saturday morning June 4. Highpoint Baptist Church, Lifeway, and MBA are co-sponsoring the Big Result Conference. Guest speakers will include Ken Weathersby, former VP of Convention advancement for the SBC Executive Committee and Dr. Mark Croston, Lifeway’s National Director for Black Church Ministries. More details following soon.

Please review the year to date receipts report. Our ministries thrive through the sacrificial support of so many churches. Many church members are surprised to learn their church provides no, or minimal support, to the Cooperative Program nor the MBA.
