ALCAP Legislative Update: URGENT Unprecedented Dealings at the State House
In my 14 years at ALCAP I have never been so angered as I am right now!
We have learned that the Speaker of the House, Rep. Mac McCutcheon, has instructed the Chairman of the House Rules Committee to put SB46, the “medical” marijuana bill, first on the Special Order Calendar in the Alabama House of Representatives tomorrow/today (May 4, 2021).
This is unprecedented! The calendar had already been voted on by the Rules Committee, but now the Speaker has overridden the committee and is calling for debate and a vote TOMORROW/TODAY (depending on when you are reading this email alert)!
On top of that, the House is positioning itself to vote on a comprehensive gambling bill (SB319) on Thursday of this week (May 5, 2021) — a bill that, if passed by the people as a constitutional amendment in November 2022 because they will mistakenly believe it is “just a simple lottery,” will dramatically transform our state for generations to come. The result will be multiple, full-fledged casinos up and down the state, online sports betting and all of the evil that will accompany such activity (such as increased crime rates, prostitution and human trafficking).
In addition, good bills such as SB10 that would protect children from receiving hormone blockers and surgeries that would alter their gender before they are old enough to make a decision for themselves, are being held up and not allowed to be debated or voted on by the House.
All of this is being done in the shadows, behind closed doors, with opponents not being allowed in the State House due to “COVID-related protocols”!

Enter your zip-code. You will be directed to a page where you must scroll down to find your State Legislator.
Governor Ivey, if gambling is rampant in Alabama, it is because you and your immediate predecessor removed the ability of the Attorney General to use state troopers to stop the spread of illegal gambling activities. Once you legalize more forms of gambling, more and more people will begin to gamble, especially young people. You don’t stop gambling activity by legalizing it!

VBS 2021 Destination Dig Training Videos
UNEARTHING THE TRUTH ABOUT JESUS!
EXCAVATE THE TRUTH
Grab your pickaxe and shovel!
"VBS 2021 is headed to present-day Israel where discovery awaits at Destination Dig. Kids will unearth more than dirt as they dig up exciting evidence that proves biblical events were not just stories. As junior archaeologists, kids will explore real-life archaeological finds that have helped to uncover the truth about Jesus! Along the way, they’ll discover the truth of Jeremiah 29:13, that God reveals Himself to us when we seek and search for Him with all our hearts." --https://vbs.lifeway.com/vbs-programs/vbs-2021-destination-dig/

9TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES BENEFIT GOLF TOURNAMENT Saturday, June 26, 2021
TimberCreek Golf Club, Daphne
It is not too early to put together one or more teams to enter this tournament. We also depend on sponsors and/or hole sponsors to help us raise funds for International Ministries’ three areas of emphasis: International Churches, the International Language School, and Ministry to Seafarers. We are grateful to Rev. Art Burroughs and Rev. James Mercer for organizing and leading this important benefit.
In addition to organizing Golf Teams (4 people teams), we ask Churches, Sunday Schools, and Small Groups to please encourage private businesses and social groups that have contact with to consider becoming sponsors.

HISPANIC CHURCH PLANT UPDATE
God has graciously provided for three years of startup support for the Hispanic Church Planter, Dr. Ramon Vielza. Rev. Vielza, his wife, and daughters are excited about serving the LORD here and hope to begin work by the first of June. Many of our churches have stepped forward to commit to helping pay the Vielza’s salary and support for the first three years. The Vielza’s will need core members to commit to working with them as they survey, do groundwork, and begin gathering Spanish-speaking groups. We believe the LORD will start one or more churches from the groups.

Special Need and Building for Lease
This past 2020 year, we were blessed to have several churches cut and trim the 5 acre yard at the IMC free of charge. Already this year, the grass growing season has begun. At a bare minimum, we need volunteers who can cut and trim every three weeks. If you can help and/or know someone that can help, please contact Gerald Burch, at 251-661-7111 or at gburch@mobilebaptists.org. If we cannot get volunteers, we appreciate an estimate for cutting and trimming.
International Ministries Center/facility for Lease
The IMC has been for sale for several years. During this last calendar year, we had buyers make legitimate offers only to have them cancel due to failure by the Mobile City District Commissioner to grant the necessary zoning changes. We are interested in leasing it to a church or Non-Profit until we can get approval for a sale. Interested parties should contact Gerald Burch, at 251-661-7111 or at gburch@mobilebaptists.org.
