Lunch & fellowship: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m

As a passionate advocate for the growth and enrichment of worship leadership within our churches, it gives me great pleasure to extend an invitation to the lay leaders of the churches within the Mobile Baptist Association to attend a Worship Leadership Seminar.

This seminar aims to equip lay leaders with essential conducting skills, including meter, dynamics, and styles, to enhance the quality of worship experiences in our churches. We recognize that effective worship leadership requires a strong foundation in musical knowledge and the ability to guide a congregation in meaningful and engaging worship.

During the seminar, we will cover various aspects of worship leadership, including utilizing accompaniment tracks, incorporating the Worship Band, and utilizing click tracks. Our experienced instructors will provide hands-on training and guidance, ensuring that participants gain practical skills that they can immediately apply within their respective church settings.

Additionally, we will establish a network of trained leaders who will be available to assist churches in need of interim or fill-in help. This will enable our churches to continue providing impactful worship experiences even during periods of transition or temporary staffing challenges.

The seminar will include a comprehensive training session, a delicious lunch, and ample opportunities for participants to engage in practical exercises. It promises to be an enriching and empowering experience for all those who attend.

Please encourage your lay leaders with a heart for worship to take advantage of this unique opportunity. Should you have any questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me, David Gill, at 251-604-9417, or dgill@mobilebaptists.org. I am more than happy to address any concerns you may have. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to welcoming your lay leaders at the Worship Leadership Seminar. Together, we can strengthen our worship ministries and bring glory to God through our united efforts.

Empower Leader Learn and Lunch July 17 & 24, 2023

MBA Enlistment Committee Needs Your Help

The Associational Enlistment Committee is at work filling the positions vacant for 2024-2027. If you feel led to serve in any of the open positions, or if you could recommend someone to serve, it would be of great help to this Committee and the Association.

Please pray and let us know by July 21, 2023 of any suggestions that you might have. The desire is to involve as many people from the Association as possible. It would be best to have all of the active churches represented in some way in the Association. The MBA Committees’ job descriptions are located here.

Pray for the Enlistment Committee as they meet, make contacts, and accomplish the task. There is a lot to do and these committees are so vital to the success of the Mobile Baptist Association, and to the Kingdom of God.

Please find the nomination/recommendation form here.

Mobile Baptist Student Scholarships Available

At this time of year, the Association accepts applications for the Mobile Baptist Student Scholarship and the Addine Maynard Scholarship. These two scholarships are available to undergraduate students from Mobile Baptist Association churches, preparing for a Christian vocation and attending the University of Mobile, Samford University, or another Southern Baptist institution. The Addine Maynard Scholarship was established to assist African-American students. The Lillie Mae Dean International Scholarship is to assist a Baptist student from a ministerial or missionary family working in the area of language missions.

The deadline for returning applications to the Association is Tuesday, August 1, 2023. The application must be postmarked by August 1. Completed applications can be emailed to the MBA office.

Interest from the Association’s Student Scholarship Trust, held by the Alabama Baptist Foundation, provides the funding for these scholarships. As you find opportunity, please inform your members of this trust. Someone in your congregation may wish to contribute to this trust through gifts, memorials, or other means to provide future students the resources to receive an education.

“Making a Difference Mobile” Simultaneous Outreach Events in March 2024

Mobile Baptists have a unique opportunity to partner with the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (ALSBOM) in March 2024. The MBA will host the inauguration of local simultaneous outreach events we are calling “Making a Difference Mobile.” That title mimics the 2024 State Convention theme and will continue as a yearly event in cities across Alabama.

The partnership will allow us to receive a limited number of grants for churches to provide outreach events any weekend during March 2024. The events will lead to your harvest events on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024.

We are still inventing the logistics. Pastors soon will receive a letter explaining the process and including the link to an online application form. The completed form will be due by October 5, 2023. David Gill, Jerrod Brown, Gerald Burch and I, Thomas Wright happily will help you complete the application and chat about evangelistic ministry options. We encourage regional events with multiple churches collaborating. Be creative with an outreach event you have always wanted to lead your people to use. Reach out to your community, local schools, first responders and ethnic groups. Include sports or professional-themed clinics, banquets, block parties, prayer walking and evangelistic ministry.

The online form, when it is ready, will be completed by the pastor or their assigned leader. Information needed includes: describe the type of event and date, list the other churches collaborating, request the training needed to prepare, other resources needed, a proposed budget including grant amount and any volunteer teams needed from across the state. The intent is to provide matching grants but each application will be evaluated as to need. Churches in good standing will receive priority approval.

Our MBA Missions/Evangelism committee and moderators will join ALSBOM missionaries to review the applications and award the grants by the end of October 2023. That timeline allows each church four months to prepare specifically for their March event.

Churches of course can conduct any event at any time they choose. The application process is to coordinate limited resources available for Making a Difference Mobile.
