Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief: How to Get Involved
Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers have trained for days like these when action is required. Teams have already been deployed to Limestone, Marshall, DeKalb, and Etowah associations. Assessments are also being conducted in other areas of the state.
Many have asked what they can do to help those affected by this week's storms. Here are a few basic ways to get involved immediately and have the most impact:
1. Pray. Your partnership in prayer to assist the Global Missions Disaster Relief Ministries is needed at this moment. I am sure you are now aware that last evening and the early morning hours played host to a very severe round of tornadoes and heavy thunderstorms. Communities across central and north Alabama have been impacted. Please pray accordingly: Pray for families in impacted areas. Pray for Emergency Response Officials. Pray for Alabama Disaster Relief teams as they move to minister.
2. Donate monetarily to Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief online at http://www.sbdr.org/donate. 100% of all monies received will support the needs of survivors in crisis through our established network of disaster responders currently working with Emergency Management to assist homeowners. Your financial support provides an immediate impact for relief needs in communities devastated by storm damage. If you would like to mail a check, please make it payable to Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions and send to:
Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions
Attn: Disaster Relief
P.O. Box 11870
Montgomery, AL 36111-0870
Please note Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief in the subject line.
3. Updates are being posted to http://sbdr.org/blog regularly. Follow us on Facebook (Facebook.com/alsbomdr) and Twitter (Twitter.com/alsbomdr) to be notified of updates and also to learn of future training opportunities.
We appreciate your prayers and support as together we give a cold cup of water in Jesus’ name to those in need.

Late Request for Mission Team to North Vancouver, Canada August 11-15, 2014
Westlynn Baptist Church in North Vancouver needs people to assist with their sports camp on August 11-15, 2014, specifically someone to teach the Bible study lessons to grades 3-6, and someone else for grades 1 & 2. Someone is needed to coach basketball (this is a day camp with kids of all sports abilities/levels grouped together by school grade, so higher-level skill isn't required from the coach!) and also someone to coach flag football and soccer. Two or more people are needed to help in the kitchen (all day), teens to be group leaders with kids all day, and a media person to put together a video to show at the end of the week. The team can stay in the church building or nearby hotel. A church group that came the past, had to cancel this year.
Another small team is needed (2-4 people - any age from teens to seniors) in July for a few days to help get ready for the August Sports Camp. Needs include: help with the grocery shopping (Westlynn pays), food prep (e.g. frying meat, making rice crispie squares), prayer-walking, prepping sports equipment, and maybe even running a "preview" sports day for kids.
If interested contact Dr. Dan Crawford via phone: 817-637-4967 or email email@example.com.
